As a band from Frankenmuth, Michigan, Greta Van Fleet comprises four members – Josh Kiszka, Jake Kiszka, Sam Kiszka, and Danny Wagner. Their debut EP “Black Smoke Rising” was released in 2016.
Despite having no experience in the music industry before forming Greta Van Fleet and being only 18 to 20 years old, the group has made waves in the music world.
The band’s background boasts numerous musical gigs as their father, Mark, had a career as a drummer and often played alongside his brother Kevin.
Additionally, their grandfather Bob was also a drummer who performed with his brother Bart at various locations including Eagles Ballroom and Pine Knob Music Theater. Furthermore, their cousin Louie served as the bass guitarist for The Beatles.

Having come together in 2012, they have launched three full-length albums to date: “Black Smoke Rising” (2016), “From the Fires” (2017), and “Anthem of the Peaceful Army” (2018).
Although successful thus far on many fronts throughout their careers they’ve had people say negative things about them for sounding too much like Led Zeppelin. So much attention has been given to how closely aligned some believe they are that others even describe it negatively against them; when compared to Nirvana just because there are predominantly white musicians playing similar music.
Their accomplishments include being named Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone in 2017 as well as receiving nominations such as Favorite Rock Album and Group of the Year for two awards at the American Music Awards along with a Breakthrough Artist nomination from Billboard Music Awards also during the same year.
Further triumphs came for Greta Van Fleet later winning the Best Rock Album award alongside other category accolades including Best New Artistand Rock Artist of the Year by Billboard Music Awards!
Their current net worth totals over an incredible amount- around $100 million, indicating that they have become one of the top rock bands on the scene today. Their financial growth is mainly due to earnings from concert ticket sales since 2017.
Collaborations with Others
As part of efforts geared towards increasing their fan base and gaining inspiration from other talented musicians, Greta Van Fleet has collaborated with artists like Bob Seger, Kid Rock, and even Led Zeppelin!
Co-writing songs is an intelligent way to open up potential for new audiences outside those initially available; further solidifying GVF’s influence over an audience beyond niche limits too narrow!
Most people understand that every musician pulls influences and aspirations from various sources including personal experiences- family backgrounds may include relatives also being in musical careers.
In light of that, we can highlight that GVF’s cover range spans are heavily influenced by older groups within similar music genres such as The Who and The Beatles among others heard covering songs like “Black Dog” and “The Lemon Song” by Led Zeppelin while still being true original works evidenced strongly through “Anthem Of The Peaceful Army.”
